The Winter Of Life

Are we scrambling for more time?
Leaving the all of everything behind?
Stack the pills upon a shelf
Slowly brace ourselves for death.

Is that all there is to life?
Is that all there was to time?
All the things left so undone
drop what I’m doing and just get in a line

Over before it begins
Start at birth and keep a record of it
No more good advice will do me any good
No more chances to do what I could

Without a word my word was sent
Without an ending, comes the end
No innings just outs
No more futures to talk about

The Spring came and went
Summer too short for friends
Fall is falling on the ground
When the winter of life comes around
